Rounding out a week of kitchen-related posts comes today’s post. This appliance is, by far, my favorite appliance in use in my kitchen, or while cooking. I put this particular appliance to use almost weekly (if not several times in one week).
The word for today is:
Crockpot.
My crockpot has been an absolute time saver as a mom of littles. It is so easy to plug the appliance in, throw in the cooking liner (its own modern-miracle invention), toss in the ingredients, turn on the crockpot, cover it, and walk away. 4-8 hours later, 95% of our meal is ready.

I also enjoy finding new recipes to try in our crockpot. We have made spaghetti squash ‘n meatballs, chicken Marsala and other chicken dishes, chili, and most recently, steel-cut oatmeal for breakfast.
Not too long ago, I was telling my husband that I think we need more than one crockpot, for various size dishes. We both had a good chuckle about how much time that would save. A couple days later, while speaking with an older woman, she sized me up and said, “I bet you only have one crockpot, don’t you?” When I affirmed her guess, she smiled and said, “I have three!” So, apparently, my desire for more crockpots is not completely absurd!
I can’t say enough about my crockpot. It has allowed us to have healthy, home cooked meals more often than not, while still allowing me to honor obligations outside the home. Even now that I am committing to less time outside the home, I find my crockpot usage is still strong.
With those words, and the strong recommendation for all newly engaged couples to put a crockpot on their wedding registry, I am rounding out my week of words about the kitchen, or cooking, or food-related items that make my life, as a mom, much simpler, easier, or simply more enjoyable!
How frequently do you use your crockpot?
How many crockpots does your family own?
What is your kitchen appliance you could not cook/bake without?
I use my crockpot at least once or twice a week.
I have three (different sizes) and yes they are all handy for different things! You are not absurd at all. I did get my third one as a grocery store promo during Super bowl season. It only cost me 5 dollars so I felt very thrifty.
After my crockpot I love my microwave. I have found recipes for bars that can be made using one bowl and the microwave. I also use it to boil the water to make jello and just make it in the same glass bowl…..easy clean up :).
I never, ever think of using my microwave to boil water!!! 😂 I need to remember that hack – about the jello!
And, I am keeping a watchful eye out for deals on crockpots – it will be a more palatable idea if it isn’t full price. Oh, and maybe I should wait until our family stops moving… half our cooking utensils were stored in our garage in VA, since there wasn’t enough room in the kitchen (although, to be honest, it was a “one butt kitchen”)!
I laughed about the “one-butt kitchen” I started out with one of those. Mine is not so big now but it is not a problem as it is just the two of us. (empty -nesters).
I nominated you for 3 day quote challenge.
How does the 3 day quote challenge work??!
Never mind. I think I got it! Thanks!
Great! Let me know if you have any questions. I am more than happy to help😄
I LOVE my crockpot! It’s especially helpful on busy days to be able to have a home cooked meal ready at the end of the day with only a little bit of prep on my part in the morning. I have one crockpot, but one of my good friends has multiple crockpots all for different functions. If you get a chance, I’d love to hear more about your favorite crockpot recipes. I am always on the lookout for more ideas!
Definitely, Jennifer!! I’ll try to do a couple more posts regarding crockpot recipes! I linked two, I think; but, the chicken ones are recipes in my recipe book! I just don’t have those handy right now… 😀
Thank you for your comment!
