Mass was kind of a wash for me today. I really don’t remember too much of it today.
Why, you ask?
Because I spent the majority of the time fighting with Little Miss to keep her shoes on. You see, she got new sandals yesterday, and while they fit around her ankle much better than previous sandals (given the never-ending Velcro strap), they also annoy her (given the never-ending Velcro strap). So, she and I fought the entire Mass… she would rip the feet portion off, I would place it firmly back on. She would rip the ankle strap off, I would place it back on. It was a game…
…all through Mass.
To add to the Sandal Game, we were seated in the middle of the rows today – not up at the front where we usually sit. We were surrounded by children, which was actually quite nice, sitting among other young families. When not obsessing over her sandals, Little Miss was enthralled with “Baby!” behind us – a 10 month old little guy. Or, she was busy trying to befriend the other toddler sharing our pew.
Aside from the occasional Velcro rip, she was thankfully quiet while engaging in toddler antics!
My husband’s Mass takeaway today was all about Esther and the party she had, since he spent Mass reading our children’s Bible to our son. For more on my Mass Takeaway (about humility), click My Sunday Best picture directly below to move over to my Instagram post.
Thankfully, our son was willing to partially participate today – meaning, he prayed, “Lord, hear our prayer,” during the Intercessory Prayer. The rest of the time, his legs were too tired to hold him up, so he spent time sitting and lounging over the pew. Because he’s four.
And, the only thing I could think of was, “At least you’re being quiet today!”
Finally, I’m linking up with Rosie’s My Sunday Best over at A Blog for My Mom. Don’t miss out on her take on “The Sacred Unveiled,” and read more from other bloggers as they discuss their Sunday Best, or their Mass Takeaway messages.
The above picture was taken by my son. As I stood there, poised and posed, he began counting, “3, 4, 5,” until I realized he was taking multiple pictures – one after the other. So, he caught me as I began chasing him down, as he giggled the entire time and continued to snap pictures. Because this following picture made me smile, I’ve decided to discuss my outfit on this picture!
